A Word From The Principal

Happy Retirement Gae Carlton
Our much-loved cleaner, Gae Carlton has officially retired and last Saturday we celebrated her 33 years at Delaneys Creek State School. We wish Gae a happy retirement and thank her for her dedication and service to the community.

Mother’s Day Stall
Another outstanding effort by our P and C and their wonderful volunteers at this year’s Mother’s Day stall. Did you know that our P and C also support our Year 6 students with their entrepreneurial adventures by allowing them to sell their honey products as part of the Mother’s Day stall? The Year 6 class were able to pay the P & C 10% of their stall takings for the day. This was such a rich and rewarding learning opportunity for our Year 6 students.

Teaching = Learning
Teachers have completed their data conversations with their class Inclusion Teacher and supports for this term’s units have been allocated. It was very exciting to see that as a school we are on track to meet our data targets for Semester One, with both Prep-2 and Years 3-6 either meeting or surpassing their targets.
The title of this section is Teaching = Learning, as without the teaching the learning cannot occur. It is extremely important that all families remember the importance of school attendance.
Did you know that missing just 2 days a month can add up to nearly a month of lost learning over the school year? Regular attendance is key to your child’s academic success, social development, and confidence in the classroom.
Students who attend school consistently are more likely to stay on track with learning, build strong relationships with peers and teachers, and develop habits that support long-term success. Whether it’s a math lesson or a classroom discussion, each day matters.
Please help us support your child’s growth by ensuring they arrive on time and ready to learn every day. If your family is facing challenges with attendance, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help!
Together, we can make every day count!
Have a wonderful fortnight.

Whole School Expectations
Over the past fortnight, we have reviewed what the givens are at our school, we call this ‘Doing It The DC Way’. These include the following-
Before School
Come to school on time. It’s important that you don’t come before 8.30am because no one is there to look after you.
Wear your full school uniform with pride, have your hair tied back and take off your jewellery.
On a Monday, we have breakfast club and it's an expectation that you use your manners with the Woodford Lions volunteers and that you put your rubbish in the bin.
It is expected that you will sit and talk quietly with your friends before the 10 to 9 bell.
During School
At DC, students are expected to know what they are learning, why they are learning it, what they need to do to improve and where they go for help. Doing this helps them achieve their goals.
Students aren’t expected to know everything yet. This is actually called the Power of Yet. Students are expected to try their best, ask questions and have a go.
In the playground, students are expected to use SALT to solve their problems. This means Stopping and asking a question, listening to what the person says and then talking about it. They are expected to go and get an adult's help if things aren’t going right.
At DC, one of the things we are most proud of is our kindness. We are super kind at DC, and it is expected that everyone is treated with kindness and respect.
End of the Day
At the end of the day, it's expected that students get to the Giraffe Shed on time, as well as have their notes and belongings ready to take home.
They are expected to listen out for their family name to get in the car on time.

District Cross Country – Let’s Celebrate
On Monday, 12 May 2025, 11 of our keen runners braved the slippery slopes and grounds of the District Cross Country Trials at St. Michaels College, Caboolture. Through the nerves and anticipation, they came to the fore doing our school proud. Spread across the 10, 11, and 12 year old age groups they lined up to warm up, stretch and then navigate a tenuous start as they ran their hearts out. With the support of their peers and families on the sideline, some fantastic efforts were achieved. Most race events had in excess of 35 competitors that fronted for their competition.
It's always fantastic to see such positive efforts, and this year was yet another year to cherish the determination of our young athletes.
Our representatives in 2025, with placings were:
10 Years Hope Schloss 12
Amaya Kuhn 27
Cody Routhan 22
Eddie Beasant 28
Tristan Johnson 34
11 Years Sophia Murray 25
Sophia Bartel 29
Lewis Sperling 14
12 Years Gigi Kuhn 12
Vice McCoy 27
Fletcher Kitson 28
Our congratulations go out to all for their resolve in such a tough long-distance venture.
Well done to all involved.
Disappointingly, due to traffic concerns Isla Berg was unable to make her race. Her school time will be compared to those in her age group to see if she may have an option for the next level. We share in her disappointment.
