A Word From The Principal

It’s been a very busy fortnight since our last newsletter and the next fortnight is set to be even busier. Last week, our school was reviewed by the School Improvement Team. All schools are reviewed every four years and the findings from the review provide our school with a clear direction for the next four years. Thank you to the parents and carers who spoke with the reviewers and provided them with valuable insights into our school. I look forward to receiving our report and sharing with you our successes and next steps.
Semester One Data- How are we progressing towards achieving our targets in English? As you can see from the graph, the majority of our students are achieving an A-C rating for their English at the end of the first semester. We are very proud of our students and results following the new version of the Australian Curriculum.

School Opinion Survey- This year’s School Opinion Survey runs from 28 July to 22 August. Parents, carers, students in selected year levels, and staff have been emailed a link to participate. Your feedback will help us understand our school’s strengths and areas for improvement. Survey responses are confidential. Find out more on the School Opinion Survey webpage or contact school administration.
P and C Meeting- Monday August 18 at 6pm, will be the next time our P & C will meet this term. At this meeting we will be reflecting on events and money raised to date as well as events still to come. Our P & C loves parents coming and sharing their ideas and suggestions so please try and attend.
District Athletics Team- Our District Athletics Team represented Delaneys Creek, competing in the district trials last week. Congratulations to all students for their efforts! We are super proud of their sportsmanship. Some students have been selected to compete at the next level forming the North Coast South Team.

TRANSITIONS
At this time of year, we start to look forward to a very important part of our role here at Delaneys Creek and that is educating our students for all settings and preparing them for change. Not only do we start to think about welcoming and providing information to our future Prep students and families for 2026, but we also begin to prepare our Yr. 6 students for the next phase of their education journey- the transition into high school.
Our Partnerships with both early educators and high schools are very important to us and we encourage their involvement and participation in our school as much as we can.
Prep 2026 enrolment interviews will be commencing in the coming weeks as parents will be emailed a booking link. Year 6 students will be starting their transitions with their Taste of Highschool morning at Woodford SHS this coming Tuesday.
Have a wonderful fortnight.

Be Respectful – Is it Rude, Mean or Bullying?
For the next fortnight, we will be focusing on what bullying is and what bullying isn’t. This week students will begin learning the definition of rude, mean and bullying. Teachers will also be sharing a Kids Helpline lesson with students- Link: https://vimeo.com/event/5203664/3b0f3c96c9
Being rude-
- Accidentally saying or doing something that hurts feelings or embarrasses someone
- It is also when you are inconsiderate, thoughtless, do unplanned behaviour, show bad manners, are only thinking about yourself.
- It was not meant to actually hurt anyone
- EXAMPLES: Burping, coughing, sneezing on others, bragging about being better than someone else, cutting in line, mucking around, being disrespectful, getting in someone’s personal space
Being Mean-
- Saying or doing something on purpose to hurt someone; maybe once or twice
- Sometimes said in anger to make someone else look bad, we usually feel regret later
- EXAMPLES: criticising or making fun of someone’s clothes, looks, intelligence, skin, language, breaking or stealing other’s belongings.
Being A Bully-
- Behaviour that is on purpose, repeated over time and involves an imbalance of power
4 types of bullying:
- Physical: actions that hurt your body
- Verbal: words that hurt your feelings
- Friendship: words/actions that hurt your friendships, using a friendship or threatening to take friendship away
- Cyberbullying: intentional, repeated harmful behaviour using technology

Solid Pathways - STEM Visit!
Monday, August 4 was an exciting day at our school! Students in Years 4 to 6 who are part of the Solid Pathways–STEM program had a special visit from their online teacher, Miss V.
Solid Pathways – STEM is a fun and challenging program that helps students learn more about science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) using an online platform called iSee. Through this program, students explore cool STEM ideas while also learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
The program encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and feel proud of who they are. It helps them grow confidence and aim high with their learning.
It was wonderful to see the students so engaged, and to meet Miss V in person today! We can’t wait to see what amazing things they’ll do next in Solid Pathways!

Community News
Help keep our community safe from fire ants
Fire ants are one of the world’s most invasive pests – and they’re a serious threat to our community.
These aggressive ants swarm when their nest is disturbed and deliver painful stings that can cause serious allergic reactions in people, pets, and animals.
Just one undetected nest can lead to a much bigger problem, threatening our health, environment, economy, and outdoor way of life.
The National Fire Ant Eradication Program (NFAEP) is on a mission to track EVERY fire ant nest – and we all have a role to play!
Here’s what you can do:
- Learn how to identify fire ants and nests.
- Check your property and local area for fire ants.
- Report what you have found online or call 132 ANT (13 22 68) – suspect ant reports should be made within 24 hours.
Knowing where fire ants aren’t is just as important as where they are. Your reports help NFAEP scientists track fire ant spread and strengthen eradication efforts.
Eradicating fire ants is a national priority and a shared responsibility. Let’s protect the places we love and secure a fire ant-free future.
