A Word From The Principal

Welcome back everyone.
Welcome back to all of our Delaneys Creek State School community for 2025. It has been a fantastic start welcoming the students and seeing them settle into their classrooms and explore their new play areas and activities. It is great to see so many smiling faces ready to learn! A very special welcome also to our 49 new preppies and their families, as well as to all of our other new students across the school.
Our 2025 Delaneys Creek State School Explicit Improvement Agenda is as simple as ABC.

We look forward to working with our community this year to ensure success for our students.
Our staff have been working very hard over the past three weeks to ensure that the learning environments were thoughtfully prepared. The teachers collaborated to plan the teaching and learning to meet the needs of each student, providing quality and engaging learning. The first two weeks of school have been extremely smooth with our students being introduced to the learning routines and their new units of work. We look forward to great learning as the term progresses.
Congratulations Mt Delaney! On Tuesday, Feb 4 our Year 3-6 students competed in our annual swimming carnival. This was yet again another great school event, and it was lovely to see so many families in attendance. Mr A will now be working out which students will qualify to attend the District Swimming competition on February 24.
Thank you Woodford RSL Sub-branch for the donation of these two books. Mrs Thiess, our Guidance Officer was very excited when she saw the topics and will be sharing them with our students.

Child Safety – Being Safe is one of our school rules and out of the four rules, is our most important. Next week our students will be reminded the safe way to cross the carpark at the front of the school. We teach them to always use the crossing, to wait and look in both directions and then if safe to walk across. Please take the time to reinforce this with your children. Last year a child from Ipswich was killed in a school carpark as the car backing out didn’t see them. This was such a tragedy for the entire community, and we would never want that to happen at our school.

Breakfast Club - The Woodford Lions will be starting up their breakfast club next Monday. Last year it was a Friday morning however it works better for the volunteers to come Monday morning this year. Donations of juice and bread are always welcome and can be dropped off at admin.

Administration News
Absence Notification Process
Attendance at school every day is important! However, if your child is sick, it is also important that parents and carers let us know. If you are advising your child’s teacher, please ensure that you also let our administration office know.
These are the options for advising the school of a student absence:
- Phone our dedicated student absence line on 5434 6366.
- Via the QParents App.
- Email - admin@delaneyscreekss.eq.edu.au.
Student Resource Scheme (SRS) 2025
Invoices for the Student Resource Scheme for 2025 have been emailed to families last week. Thank you to the families who have finalised their SRS payments and made a voluntary financial contribution for the year. Our preferred method of payment for the Student Resource Scheme and all school activities is via the Qkr! App, BPOINT, or EFTPOS available at the office.
If you require a payment plan, please email Jo Needham, Business Manager (bsm@delaneyscreekss.edu.au) to discuss options.

QParents
DCSS has transitioned to QParents for all consent management! Thank you to 80% of our families who have already signed up and using this feature for consent management, notifying absences, viewing report cards, and paying invoices! Parents who do not register for QParents will be emailed a copy of consent forms separately.
Here's what some of our families had to say about providing digital consent on QParents for the first time:
~ "I found it quick and super easy to approve the consent forms. It's so much easier than the paper version, especially having multiple children to complete forms for. Then on to Qkr! to pay and all done!"
~ "I found it great we didn't need to print any forms out and have to get them back, and that it was instant. I found it a little tricky at first to find where to provide consent - As I went in to each kid individually, then had to find the right area. I can see now that it's much easier to go to 'Consent Requests' from the main screen when you log in. Now we've done it, it'll be fine."
~ "I think this new system is a wonderful idea and I much prefer it than a note being sent home in the kids school bags or sent home on different days. It was nice, quick, easy, and I loved that I could just bring up the form when I got the email then and there. As a busy full-time working mum, this is definitely 10/10 for me and I would love this to continue in the future."
~ "It was so easy! Not having to worry about signing a form and hoping my child remembers to hand it back in, is always a plus!"
Safer Internet Day

How will you support Safer Internet Day on Tuesday, 11 February? This year’s theme is all about working together to help make the internet a safer, and more positive place.
