DCSS 2025 Welcome
A Word From The Principal

Welcome back to Delaneys Creek for 2025.
In preparation for the start of next week, below is some important information.
Tuesday January 28, Day One Process - Teachers will be available on Tuesday morning from 8.45am for students to come to the class and settle in, ready for the day. If you were unable to drop your child’s books off on Friday, January 24 you will be more than welcome to take them to the classroom. New Prep families have been emailed separately their process.
Pick Up – Prep students will be collected from 2.40pm from the Giraffe Shed for the first week. All other students will be assembled as per our usual process and dismissed from 3pm. We request that parents collecting new prep and older siblings, allow the older sibling to remain until the end so that we can ensure the routine of collection has been reaffirmed. Classes will be sitting in different positions this year and students need to learn the expectation.
Parade - There will be a brief parade this coming Wednesday from 9am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
February 4 School Swimming Carnival – 2013 to 2016 students
On Tuesday February 4, we will be holding our annual swimming carnival for students born between 2013 and 2016. Year 3 students who are not eligible to attend will remain at school and be taught by Mrs Jackman for the day. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. Parents who have signed up to QParents will be able to approve their child’s attendance through the QParents App, with all other parents being emailed a copy to sign. Transport to the pool will be via bus and this will cost $7. Again, parents who have signed up to QParents will be able to pay for this trip through the app as it will redirect you to BPoint to pay. Alternatively, you will be able to pay through the Qkr! app.
Volunteers Needed - Commencing Week 2, Monday February 3
Lisa Fortnum (P/1 Inclusion Teacher) will be running the PMP Prep program every Monday and Thursday from Feb 3. To ensure this program is successful she requires parents to volunteer. As per the Department of Education (DOE) guidelines, all volunteers must complete the Mandatory Training. To assist parents and carers with completing this training promptly Mrs Fortnum and Mrs Mabb will be holding a special session in the library Week 1 Friday, January 31 from 9:00am-9:30am or 2:00pm-2:30pm.
Strengthening Relationships - This year, we are looking to further strengthen our connection with families. For this reason, we will be minimising our use of the school mobile as our first way to connect.
We will now be:
1- Calling first
2. Leaving a brief message, or
3. Sending an SMS to let you know we have something to speak with you about
Teachers will be monitoring how often they connect with families however they are at times very busy and may send an email instead of a phone call.
To report student absences or to get in touch with the school, please phone our school line first (Not the mobile) on 5434 6333.
Please look out for our first official newsletter Sunday, Feb 9.
Have a wonderful fortnight and start to the school year.
