DCSS Term 4 Week 2
Calendar of Events
A Word From The Principal

Welcome back to Term 4, one of the busiest and most exciting terms of the school year. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces yesterday and be welcomed back today by so many polite, friendly and respectful students. We hope that the holidays were happy and safe for all of our DC families, and we are looking forward to a busy term of learning, engagement and fun in between the many special events and milestones of Term 4.
School Review
Our school review that was undertaken last term will be used to guide the school in determining our strategic direction for the next four years. This week, key members of our leadership team met with Regional staff to begin unpacking our review and commenced planning for our 2026 AIP (Annual Implementation Plan), and four year strategic plan.
Our full School Review Executive Summary Report will be up on our website soon, but please read through our Key Affirmations below which identify & highlight the outstanding work and commitment staff, students & families have contributed to the success of Delaneys Creek State School.

Cyber Safety Information Session- Wednesday October 22
Did you know that our Delaneys Creek school community has a world acclaimed author and expert in cyber safety? Craig Ford, owner of Cyber Unicorns has kindly agreed to come and share his knowledge and expertise with our school community next Wednesday evening. With new legislation coming in for social media and the world of AI on our doorstep, Craig will be there to help us build our understanding so we in turn can keep ourselves and children safe. Please join us in the eXplore from 5-6pm next Wednesday evening.

Class Consideration Survey
Please ensure you have completed the survey by 1 November 2025 if you would like us to consider any educational reasons about the placement of your child in 2026. I remind parents that we are a relatively small school, and most year levels will have two full class cohorts, this does not allow for a great deal of flexibility around which class a request may ask for.
Requests submitted by the due date are considered, but ultimately decisions are made by the school, that are in the best interests of all students. We aim for balanced classes. An incredible amount of time and thought is put into constructing classes by teachers who consider numerous factors including: academic, behaviour, social (friends), emotional, students with special needs, disabilities, physical class room space/location, and parent requests (submitted by due date).
Late requests from parents will not be considered. For requests to be considered they must be lodged on time, on the correct form. Any request previously submitted in a past year must be resubmitted again this year if you wish the same circumstances to be considered. Once classes are formulated changes will not be made. Please click on the link below to complete the survey.

Whole School Expectations
Week 1 we focused on what our four school rules looked like in different settings of the school. Key reminders for parents regarding expectations are:-
- Have your child at school on time every day, all day
- Use the crossing at all times
- Sign in at the office upon arrival, even if you are dropping something off at your child’s class
- Send a note or text if your child is absent or has a uniform issue
- Keep the top pick-up gate free for students to exit. Bike riders leave from the bottom gate
- Drop and go entry- if full you need to drive on and park
- Keep informed by reading the attending interviews, reading the newsletter, eflash details or SMS
Week 2 we have focused on being an achiever and knowing if we put in a big effort we should get big results. This rule is about stepping into the uncomfortable zone of learning and that even though some things might be hard, we need to persist and put in effort.
Over the last two weeks we have also had a schoolwide focus on safety. We discussed last week and will enact next week how to react if a fire was coming towards our school. Depending on the direction of the fire, we would either evacuate to the Giraffe Shed or the oval. In the event we had to leave our school for a safer location, we would go to the DAG Pub as there would be space, shade, water and ease of pick up. If that was too dangerous, we would go the other direction, to the DC Hall.
Finally, snake and spiders. At DCSS we know that we are going to come across many creatures due to the location of our school. Students are taught to stand still if they see a snake and slow back away. They are also to get someone to go for help while they keep an eye on where the snake is going.
Parenting Toolbox
Delaneys Creek State School has subscribed to Michael Grose / Parenting Toolbox. This website provides an abundance of helpful information and ideas to support parents navigating the very difficult role of parenting. This week's item compliments our cybersafety parent information session on Wednesday and is titled: 'Beyond Screen Time'.
Administration News
All visitors on-site must sign in and out at the school office.
When you arrive, please sign in using the iPad at the front desk. The system will automatically print a yellow visitor label for you to wear while on school grounds.
This helps us keep everyone safe and ensures we know who’s on-site at all times.
Thank you for helping us keep our school safe and organised!
